DIY Fall Doormat and Front Porch

October 2, 2018 by Jen 10 Comments

Yea it’s fall, it’s fall, it’s fall!!  I’m so excited to be in my favorite season.  I absolutely love this time of year and all that comes with it.  This is the first year being able to decorate my front porch in the new house and I had fun bringing in all the fall flowers, pumpkins, and my new DIY Fall Doormat.  So cute right?!?!  And I love it backed by the buffalo check mat.  It totally makes my whole front porch.  The best part is that it was super fast and easy to make so that makes it even better!

So really this DIY fall doormat was so easy to make!  Once you have all your supplies gathered it seriously took me about 10 minutes, and then I gave it about another hour drying time.

DIY Fall Doormat

WHAT YOU NEED: (affiliate links are included below for your convenience!)

plain doormat (I used the 18in x 30in size)

black craft paint

foam brush

fall stencil

masking tape

DIRECTIONS:

I found my doormat at Home Depot for about $10 but you can also get one here on Amazon.

I found my fall stencil from the Etsy shop Superior Stencils and I purchased the 16in x 8in size.

I just taped the stencil right on the mat to hold it in place.

Then I took my black acrylic craft paint and a foam bush and just dabbed it up and down, not side to side, to keep any from seeping underneath the stencil.  The mat’s stiff bristles were really absorbent and the paint went on really well. It didn’t go under the stencil at all!

That’s it!!  When I was done I removed the stencil after a few minutes to let it dry for about an hour.  Super easy fall doormat!

Then I placed it outside and had fun setting up my fall front porch!

I am loving all things buffalo check this fall so this rug went perfect under my doormat!

Happy crafting!! XOXO
