Easy Caramel Sauce

September 4, 2017 by Jen 14 Comments

So you guys this is simply amazing and such an easy recipe! I made this to go with an apple cake yesterday and it is so good it can also stand alone! This is perfect to pour over ice cream, cakes, pies, and my husband says he can’t wait to pour it all over pumpkin pancakes! I totally agree.

In a small sauce pan over medium heat add your butter (make sure you use real butter here!), brown sugar, and milk.  Stir it around until it is all melted together and comes to a boil.

Let simmer for about 5-6 minutes stirring often (turn down the heat a little if you need to).  Remove from the heat and add your vanilla and a pinch of kosher salt.  Stir it all up.  Let it sit in the pan for about 20 minutes.  The sauce will thicken as it cools.  Then pour over something yummy or store in a glass container in the refrigerator.  When you are ready to use it just warm it up a little in the microwave.  Enjoy!

I would love if you would join my Friday link-up party!

Here is your printable recipe!

Oh, this looks good. I usually buy the tins of caramel but I like the idea of making my own much more. Thanks.

YUM!! I need to think of some things I can drizzle this on so I have an excuse to make it. Does it set hard in the fridge (so I could use it as mini pie fillings)? xx
