I have always been a fan of scented candles, especially the 3-wick candles from a certain store.  I love how wonderful they make my house smell and being able to purchase the scents to match whatever time of year it is. I still love the way those candles smell, but a couple of years back I decided to try my best to get away from products with artificial ingredients or fragrances.  I thought that would be a healthier choice for our family.  I slowly made the switch to all my cleaning products and personal products.  I was sad when I learned that it really isn’t very good for us to breath in all the artificial fragrances from scented candles either.  So trying to be good, I only started buying candles without synthetic fragrances.  I do admit last fall I cheated and allowed myself one fall 3-wick scented candle, and one Christmas scent but then the rest of the year I was good again. 🙂

This year trying to be better I started experimenting with some essential oils to see if I could come up with a fall scent.  I am by no means an expert with this, or what brands of oils are the best to get, but I assume any would be better for our family to breathe in then artificial fragrances.  My daughter and I had fun working on this the other day and we thought what we came up with made the house smell really good and ready for fall!  I don’t think this smells near as strong as a 3-wick candle so you will have to spray it every so often to keep up the scent.  I realize to buy all the oils for this can be more costly up front but they will last a long time.  Let me know what you think!

I started with a 16 oz glass spray bottle.  I use this one here.

Then I added 8 ounces of filtered water to the bottle.  Next I added my oils.  Here is what I used.

Shake up before each use and enjoy the natural smell of fall!
