This is such a simple and inexpensive little craft and the beauty of it is that it can be used year after year!  I just picked up some small pieces of felt, they are sold individually in about an 8 x 10 size, in orange, green, and black from a store like JoAnn or Michaels.  One black and one green was plenty, and the number of orange you buy will depend on how many pumpkins you want to make.  I made four pumpkins total so I just picked up two pieces of orange felt.  I was able to fit two pumpkins per sheet.  Now I am no artist by any means, but first I just drew out the template for the pumpkins and stems free hand with a pencil on a piece of paper.  That way I could erase and change my lines as many times as needed to get it just right.  Then I cut out my templates and traced around those with pen on the felt.  When cutting out the felt use really sharp scissors like sewing scissors, and I made sure to cut just on the inside of the template line so the lines did not show on my pumpkins.  For the black you can just be as creative as you want with the face pieces.
